Addiction to Drugs - making my withdrawal more comfortable

Expert: Jurriaan Plesman, Nutritional Psychologist - 6/22/2009

Question
Hi my name is steph and i am starting my detox off heroin tomorrow and i am going it alone as i have no family around to support me and no one who i could turn to who would show me compassion in my time of need. my husband is due home from rehab in 2 weeks as he has just gone through a heroin and methadone detox but i also need to be clean when he comes home for obvious reasons and also because i don't want to loose my marriage or my 3 beatiful children and it is vitally important that i do not jepordise my husbands recovery, so i am really on my own as i can not speak to my husband about what i am going through. My husband thinks i am clean now, i had to lie to him when he asked and i feel so guilty for that but if he new the truth he would be likley to give up his rehab and come home because he would be worried and that would not do any of us any favours, he has done so well and i am so proud of him but at the same time i am really ashamed of myself for being so weak and not being able to just stop. I didn't think i would be able to cope with my children alone whilst also trying to go through a withdrawal, i am pleased to say that i feel ready now and i am going to bite the bullet and just get on with it, my heroin intake has reduced to less than 0.2g every 2 days but i am under no illusion that its going to make my withdrawal any easier so what i need to know is what i can do and what i can buy over the counter to combat the withdrawal symptoms and whether or not codeine Phosphate will help me because i have them in my medicine cabinet at home, please help,
yours faithfully
Steph aged 21
