Question
Ive been on methadone matenance program for almost 6 1/2 yrs all of which I have remained clean from heroin In May of this year I tested positive for benzos so I lost my take homes. After 2 months of hell they finally desided to give them back and the very next day they said I was positive for benzos again so now Im being detoxed and  have never ever used benzos.I dont know what to do or where to turn to prove I didnt take benzos.I take serequel, synthroid, celexa, tramodol and OTC benadryl.Could any of these med cause false positive for benzos?

Answer
Cindy,

None of the meds you listed could make you test positive for benzodiazapines, they are valium, klonipin and others like that. However, I don't know too much about celexa, ask your physician or pharmacist what is in it and if it could cause this. I am not sure why you tested positive but maybe you could ask or insist that they redo your test and do an instant one so that you are in the room when the results come up. I am not sure what else you could possibly do. Let me know if they agree to re-test and how it turns out.
