Question
i have used marijuana for about 18 years off & on. the past 10 years everyday pretty much, I was wondering how long it takes for it to be out of my system. I got to pass drug screen if I want a good job and i don't want a positive test to come back. So how long would you say would be a safe time period to wait for.

Answer
Wendy,

If you have been using everyday for the past 10 years then it will take a very long time to get it completely out of your system. It takes approximately 30 day to 6 months to be fully clean because the body builds up what is called nanograms, that is how we would read this on a drug screen and to know if someone is clean or at least abstaining the nanogram has to be declining. You would have to stop completely and try to flush your system by increasing your fluid intake but you don't want to do this in an unhealthy way at all. Really, marijuana is one of those that has to run its course in the system and the more you smoke the more it builds. Does this make sense?
