Addiction to Drugs/How to Break a caffeine addiction

Question
I am addicted to caffeine.  I read about all the negative side effects so I decided to stop drinking it.   I stopped cold turkey.   I don't have any headaches or cravings but I am exhausted all of the time.  I can't think strait and I have zero motivation to do anything.   I go to bed very early and I have a hard time waking up. My brain feels "foggy" or out of it.   I eat right and I do some light exercise everyday (Walking the dog).   This has been going on for about three weeks.

Do you have any recommendations on how to find energy while I continue to kick this addiction?

Answer
Hi Autumn.

You should withdraw from coffee (caffeine) only very gradually over a period of say three weeks

Please see:

How to withdraw from caffeine (coffee) at:

which gives a lot of information.
It might be an idea to go on a hypoglycemic diet, to stabilise blood sugar levels. Also search for "caffeine" at our web site at www.hypoglycemia.asn.au for more information about caffeine.
