Question
Hi, I have been involved with the crc methadone clinic for four years, Since I started there I have had drastic changes in my health. I've put on 100 pounds, my thyroid is extremely low, my potassium count is way low, my teeth are practically cracking and splitting, plus theres much more to numerous to mention. I want to get off the methadone, for me it is just another addiction. The clinic I go to is not good for my emotional health either, everday I leave there in tears and shaking. The clinical supervisor screams at the patients and his employees. After four years of never failing a drug test he told me he thought I had tampered with a urine. Actually he screamed it at me with the door open and two counselors in there that were not mine, everyone in the clinic knew all my personal business, I walked out with people laughing at me. I thought when the test results came back clean and untampered all would be taken care of. Wrong. I guess this is a wake up call. Where do I start to get healthy and off methcrap

Answer
HI jodi,

I suppose even the clinical supervisors will get frustrated with he lack of progress for treating drug addict with other drugs. They are in the dark as to the causes of addiction. Drug addicts are addicted because of an underlying biochemical disorder that is not being treated with the administration of other drugs. It is a nutritional disorder and can and should be treated without recourse to drugs and by nutritional means. Please read:

and discuss this with a Nutritional Doctor, Clinical Nutritionist or a Nutritional Psychologist, if self-help therapy fails.

Please go on the hypoglycemic diet and withdraw from methadone very gradually and under the supervision of a nutritional doctor.

in its entirety from beginning to end. It includes a program showing you how to overcome a negative self-image, and assertiveness training program, communication course and values clarification course. Most people can learn these skills by reading these articles over and over again. This program is also available in my book "Getting off the Hook" which is freely available on the internet at Google Book Search.
