Question
I have been on percocets for about five years due to back pain. Arthritis, and disc. I have decided to live with the pain, and find other measures instead of taking pail killers. I have sclerosis of the liver fourth stage from many years of drinking which I have not doe in over 20 years. I wanted to self detoxify, but was told that I should not try that due to seizures, and heart stoppage that may occur, but I can't afford a hospital. I have been wanting to stopped for sometime, but I can not get any help. Any suggestions. I am 59 years old

Answer
Hi George,
I apologize for the delay in responding to your question. The safest thing to do would be to talk with your doctor who is prescribing the percosets. He should agree to a  slow taper which will minimize the withdrawal symptoms.
Another suggestion I have is you might consider a medication called suboxone. It is a medication used to treat addiction to pain medications. The medicine stops all withdrawal and cravings for the percoset, and in some cases, the suboxone has been very effective in managing chronic pain.
Doctors must have a specific certification to prescribe it. You can find a list of providers, a well as truthful information about this medication at www.heretohelprogram.com.
Good Luck to you,
Sherrie
