Addiction to Drugs/treatment

Question
In the story I am writing, someone on the street has taken too much cocaine or has had a back reaction to it.
The doctor takes the person to his clinic and saves him. If this happens, what might the doctor do?
Any comments would be helpful.

Answer
Sorry for the late response!  I'm assuming you meant "bad" reaction to cocaine rather than
"back" reaction?

If so, then the medical professional will look out for any cardiac (heart) condition that might occur.  Myocardial infarction is possible. Heart rate, blood pressure, will be carefully monitored.  There may be treatment for symptoms of hyperthermia - which can result in liver failure - by physically cooling the person.  A benzodiazepine medication (a sedative like Valium, Ativan) might also be given.

Hope this helps!
