Addiction to Drugs/Meth Affects

Question
My sister in-law recently tried to commit suicide, and has been trying to stay clean. My wife and I have been trying to help, but sometimes all for nothing, but we always find ourselves questioning her sobriety. Sometimes she cleans the house non stop and sometimes can't get her to move at all. Some days she is nice as can be  and sometimes, if we even look at her she blows up on us. She says the DR. told her that she is BIPOLAR, but we also question that. But can "Meth or ICE" cause skin lesions, and if so,  what are some of the other affects it can cause to the body? You can post this on the drug message board, it may or may not help somebody in the future. Thank You, Rob

Answer
Hello Rob,

It appears that you want to help a person that is addicted to drugs, shows wild mood swings and may be Bipolar.

It is of course difficult to go into the individual details of a person and I can only generalize about some principles that you should follow up by reading some articles and discussing this with a doctor.
If she is bipolar then she needs to be treated by a doctor, but Bipolar people do benefit form a hypoglycemic diet as described at our web site.

Please read the following articles:

“What is Hypoglycemia?” at:

“Alcoholism is a Treatable Disease” at:

This applies to most addicts.

We also have a self-help psychotherapy course at our web site that is free of charge.

Please discuss with a therapist.
