Answer
Hi karen,

Being Bipolar and depressed would make it very hard for him to give up drugs. He is in fact self-medicating himself against extreme mood swings.

Yet drug addiction can be treated once we realize that it is mainly due to a metabolic disorder that can be treated nutritionally.

To start off with most drug addicts have been found to be hypoglycemic. Thus the first step is going on a hypoglycemic diet.

Being Bipolar this should be done with the help of a doctor. Bipolar people also benefit from the Hypoglycemic diet, as it will reduce the stress hormones associated with unstable blood sugar levels.

He should  be give vitamin B12 injections and folic acid, as drugs for Bipolar Disorder usually interfere their absorption.
