Question
I have caught him twice, but know that it probably happens everyday. I grew up in a house where my step father was an addict and so the signs are very clear to me. How can I help him stop. I'm asking for help because I don't have the strength to do it by myself anymore.

Answer
Dear Francesca,

Well having experienced addiction in you own family, you would be aware that treatment is very difficult if the addict him/herself does not want to do anything about it. Your BF must WANT to have treatment or there is nothing we can do.

If you BF does not want to be treated for addiction it is up to you to decide whether to terminate your relationship and I know this is very difficult. But ultimately you become responsible for your own happiness and that of your children.

If your BF want treatment it may be worthwhile to read:

Drug Addition is a Nutritional Disorder at:
http://www.hypoglycemia.asn.au/articles/drug_addictions_nutritional_disorder.htm...

as a first step. I suggest that he see a Nutritional Doctor or a Clinical Nutritionist.
