Addiction to Drugs/What to eat

Question
Hello Jurrian,
I am a recovering heroin addict/alcoholic/benzodiazapine addict (80 days clean today). I have been having big fears just coping with everyday life (incoherent thoughts, massive anxiety, short-term memory loss, immense self-consciousness) sheer terror to say the least. I have been told to drink at least 2 quarts of water which I've just started and was also told to eat healthy foods. What foods or what types of diets would best improve my condition? Thank you for your time.
Omar

Answer
Hi Omar,

Withdrawing from drugs is only the first step in recovery. Your anxiety attacks are due to the underlying biochemical disorder that brought you to use drugs in the first place. They have now re-emerged with a vengeance.

You need to treat the underlying biochemical disorder that afflicts most addicts and that is hypoglycemia. Thus going on a hypoglycemic diet will help you to produce the right hormones and neurotransmitters that can reduce the symptoms of your stress hormones.
