I come from a different perspective, and although, yes tolerance is an issue here, I would be hesitant to say someone "needs to go to NA meetings and aftercare". The decision about treatment is a tricky one and people need to make their own decision about which philosophical approach to drug treatment they subscribe to. It is also potentially damaging to tell a child that their parent "needs to do something", as the child's perspective of the problem is likely to be very specific. I guess being that this is an American site I will probably be shot down in flames for saying this, but sometimes people shouldn't be forced into a certain type of treatment. I have nothing against NA, it works for some people, and it doesn't work for others. Choice people, choice!
