Hello Tim,

Unfortunately you did not tell me whether she is using now or has stopped. The point is that first of all she needs to be detoxified under medical supervision. Once she is clear of the drug, this is when the real therapy starts.

Most drug addict are hypoglycemic and unless they go on the hypoglycemic diet, they will continue to be very moody, emotionally instable and have no control over their emotions.

Please read:

“Treatment of Drug Addiction”

“What is Hypoglycemia?”

“The Serotonin Connection”

Also she needs to do the self-help PSYCHOTHERAPY course at our web site.

I feel that you should thoroughly familiarize with the connection of drug addiction and hypoglycemia in order to fully understand what your fiancee goes through. Also study the self-help PSYCHOTHERAPY course to understand how she thinks and feels and how to handle her.

I hope i have been  helpful.

Answer
Hi Timothy,

it is good to heat that she has stopped using. Thus now she needs to concentrate on getting over the hypoglycemic syndrome.

She needs to go on a hypoglycemic diet. If she has any problems there I suggest that she sees a a naturopath or a nutritionist familiar with hypoglycemia.

The post withdrawal period is most difficult for an heroin addict, because she will be depressed. In other word her body cannot as yet produce the 'feel-good' neurotransmitters that would make her feel happy and relaxed. This is also the reason why she cannot enjoy sex.

She need to go on the hypoglycemic diet, before she starts to feel happy.

Please discuss this with a therapist.
