Expert: Mary Date: 9/26/2005 Subject: herion and oxycotin addiction
Question My 22 year old son is in a detox right now for herion and oxycotin then hopefully to a rehab for 30 days.He went 24 hours before we were able to get him in detox and I have never seen anything like the withdrawl syptoms that he had. It was totally frightening.He even put a gun to his head . My question is after rehab what can I do for him to help him stop using. I refuse to put my baby in a coffin. ANd to any users out there reading this,Please stop now and get some help it's there you just need to find it. P.S. My son also has no insurance so you will be able to get state aide. Thank you Lori

the best way to help your son is to go along with what his treatment team at the rehab advises.,He should probably go to a half way house after rehab or further treatment- encourage him to get a much treatment as possible and go to NA meetings. YOu should check out any program they have for families at the rehab and see if they have a nar-annon meetings or al- anon ( look in the yellow pages. )
people do recover but the more treatment and support they have the better their odds at staying clean.
