Addiction to Drugs/Is it possible?

Question
Is it possible for someone who has smoked marijuana everyday to just stop doing it. My husband is 33 and has smoked it since he was about 16 years old. Everyday. He has a everyday drinking habit also. He had quit when I moved out and after three months I moved back in and after 6 months of being sober he begun drinking again. He swears he quit smoking marijuana also but I still feel he does it. The outside whites of his eyes are usually red in the evenings. It's easier for him to hide that. Used to when he smoked alot all of the whites of his eyes were red. So, is it possible that he is not smoking or do you think he is just hiding it real good from me? Oh, I did find out about one incident of smoking with my friends new boyfriend from my friend but that was the only time I found out something for sure. He did confess to it basically because I am sure my friends boyfriend told him that he said something about that one time.

Answer
Jeri,

It is possible to quit but he has to want it. A person who is so determined to keep using something can absolutely find a way to hide it but they will eventually get caught. You need to take into consideration how much he is drinking too, that can make his eyes red too, what does your gut tell you from his history and what do you truly believe? I always tell people to follow their instincts.
But do it logically, not emotionally.
