Adobe Acrobat/Creating anchor links in Acrobat

Question
Hello Ken,

I am trying to put a link in one .pdf file that will take the user to another .pdf file, but I want it to take the user to a specific point in the new file. Kind of like how an anchor link works in Dreamweaver. I know you can link the word to a specific point within the same .pdf but I want it to link to a specific point in a different .pdf. Is this possible?

Answer
Hi Jeremy,

You are correct, you can make anchor links that point to specific points within the same .pdf file. However, to answer the question, no. You really can't have an anchor point to a different .pdf file.

I suppose it may be possible to embed the pdf in a web page, giving each page its own address and then have an anchor point to this pages address. This will cause a web browser to open and then direct itself to said page and will probably download into the pdf helper/viewer for whatever web browser the person uses.

Given that my background is mainly in print, this is really all I can come up with at this time. Let me know how it all works out for you.

Thanks,

Ken Black
