Adobe Acrobat/Importing graphics into Acrobat pro 8

Question
Ken, I'm using Acrobat 8 pro and I'm designing editable PDF's for our sales people to use to update variable info on a per client basis. Do you know if you can import a logo into a PDF file using the Acrobat 8 pro software? If so please tell me what I need to do.

Answer
Hi Jayson,

Acrobat does not have a provision for importing graphics. You can save the logo as a pdf itself, then select it with the select tool then copy and paste it into the pdf file you would like to have it in. This only works some of the time.

The plug-in Pitstop will allow you to place pdf files within your pdf document as well as give you greater control.

Another possibility for you is to open the pdf in Illustrator and place the graphic then save it as a pdf. Doing this can get cumbersome as Illustrator will create many layers of clipping masks and compound paths you will need to contend with, as well as the way it strings text in separate lines or even characters.

I hope this helps,

Thanks,

Ken Black
