Question
Hello Ken.
Thanks for taking the time to answer my question or direct me to a source. I have a book that I am offering online and want to secure it so the reader can not make multiple copies. There are many programs listed on the Web but I don't know who rates the programs. I tried one, from Canada, and had a nightmare experience. Your help is very much appreciated.
Thank you,

Lee Kitchen

Answer
Hello Lee,
You can secure the document under Document -> Security -> Secure this document... This will start a wizard that will prompt you to create a security policy when you select New. In the general settings, you can select a security password (this is to ensure the security settings cannot be changed, not to open the document) below that you will see several options, check off the box to prevent printing and copying.
Then save. That will prevent most people from doing anything other than opening and reading your book, however, there are many third-party programs that can get around these security settings and ultimately, if someone really wants to they will be able to break the security setting and re-save your document.

Thanks,

Ken Black
