Question QUESTION: I am using AppleWorks 6.2 and Adobe Acrobat 5.0 to create PDFs on my Mac, system 9.2. When I insert a photo into AppleWorks, it looks super clear on screen. When I make a PDF of the document, the photo looks much worse. Is there a setting on the Adobe Acrobat to make sure the photos come out as nice as the original? I looked for dots per square inch but coudn't find it. Thanks!
ANSWER: Hi David,
In Distiller make sure you have the press or print joboptions selected. You can also go to settings in Distiller and under the compression tab uncheck all the downsample options, this will leave your images untouched but the pdf's may be larger.

QUESTION: One or both of your suggestions worked. Thanks! Now the 2nd and last problem is this: 8x10 is fine. But when I format the AppleWorks document (page setup) to be 8x5 (and this takes quite a bit of tweaking of the text and pictures) and I change it to a PDF (Print to PDF), the PDF is not at all centered. My doc appears in the upper left corner of the PDF. Is there any way to make the AppleWorks document (5x8) look centered on the PDF? I hope you can answer this.

I'm not familiar with AppleWorks, but generally you should see if there is a page set-up button available when you create your pdf or go to File>Page Set up and make the page size 5 x 8 there. In Distiller you can go to settings and make the default page size 5 x 8 then save these settings, name them 'Print5x8' or something similar and make sure that this is the joboptions file selected in Distiller.
