Adobe Acrobat/Cannot delete line in a PDF document

Question
QUESTION: Dear Ken:

I have Adobe Acrobat Profesional 7.0.

I have several PDF documents which were not created on my PC and I'm trying to delete some text using the touchup text tool.

The problem is that there are several underlined words (or at least that's what it looks like) and everytime that I delete the text the line remains and no matter what I do, there's no way to delete them.

How can I delete those lines that remain after deleting some words?

Thanks,
Roberto

ANSWER: Hi Roberto,

Acrobat sees the text as text, but the underline is seen as a graphic element. Since Acrobat does not recognize text attributes such as underlines as text, you cannot remove it with Acrobat alone.

You will need a pdf editor, such as Enfocus Pitstop to do more robust editing. There are other editors available, you may want to check www.planetpdf.com for other pdf editing solutions.

QUESTION: Ken:

I already installed Pitstop Pro ver. 7.51 but the installation just added some purple toolbars to the adobe acrobat menus. Are these toolbars the entire pitstop software? I was expecting something more powerful and complete. It seems a very simple piece of software to cost $400 bucks.

But anyway going back to my original question how do I remove the lines now that I have installed PitStop?

I tried several buttons that were installed but cannot find the right one(s).

Thanks,
Roberto

Answer
Roberto,

I suggest you dig a bit deeper and become more acquainted with the software, Pitstop is a very powerful tool when it comes to pdf editing.

As for your question -

Open the Pitstop Inspector window - under the Window menu. This allows you to see information and make changes to things when selected.

Using the Select Objects tool, the arrow, select the line you wish to delete and press the delete key.

Thanks,

Ken Black
