Adobe Acrobat/Creating pdf files in multiple locations at the same time

Question
QUESTION: Hello, we created multiple acrobat printers and we're printing from different programs to these printers. When we print from 2 different programs to 2 different acrobat printers when the first pdf file is ready the the printer is waiting for the second print to finish before writing the pdf file. The CPU is going to 100% untill the second pdf file is done. When both pdf files are ready both files will open. This behaviour is since 2-3-4 weeks. We work in this way for several years and never had a problem before.

For making multiple pdf printers we create several printers with port = "Adobe pdf port" (until version 8) or "Adobe pdf port monitor" (version 9)

ANSWER: Hi Jeannick,

One thing that comes to mind here since you mention having multiple pdf printers using version 8 or version 9 is that if both versions are being used simultaneously on the same machine, one is taking precedent over the other.

I have had some similar experiences running version 9 while running a previous version of Acrobat Professional as well as both Distillers, and version 9 tended to steal all the resources for itself until it caused a crash.

I would try making your pdf printers all print using the same version of software so the system only runs one version rather than two.

Thanks,

Ken Black

QUESTION: Hello Ken,

we are using only one version for printing the 2 pdf files. I just mentioned that we have the problem with version 6,8,9.

Answer
Are you using a copy of Acrobat Pro to perform the creation or are you using a copy of Acrobat Server?

Hello Again Jeannick,

I am sorry that you have not received an adequate answer to your very vague problem. You could have answered my question, a very valid one at that by posting another follow up, which you did not. Perhaps, if this system is not satisfactory for you, you should try Adobe's technical support.
