Adobe Acrobat/Dropped bullet point text

Question
QUESTION: I have a few Word documents with bullet points that spill over onto the next page. The converted (pdf) document seems to drop the continued text from the bullet point on the previous page. The space is there but not the text, and everything after the continued text is there.

ANSWER: Hi Nicole,

Try checking the margins settings for print in Word, make it so that the header is not getting trimmed off or set so that the printing starts further down the page. Anything that ends up above the header margin from a continuation on the preceding page will not print. The pdf page is based on these margin settings, so creating a pdf from Word is just like printing to your printer.

QUESTION: Ken,

I've recreated this document numerous times with different options. I found that the only time I have a problem is when I put page numbers into the footer. I have the margins set at .7" top/bottom and .8" left/right, on 5.5x8.5" paper, portrait style. The header/footer are defaulted at .5" from the edge - I changed it to .3" from edge and still have the problem. What else can I do?

Nicole

Answer
Nicole,

I have attempted to re-create the issue you are having, to no avail. In all of my attempts the pdf file comes out correctly.

How are you creating the pdf file? Are you using the print dialog from Word, or are you using a menu item called Adobe PDF? Typically, the print dialog method works the best, the menu item Adobe PDF is a helper utility that can be buggy at best.

Here are a couple of other things you can try -

If you have a full version of Acrobat Professional, you can also drag your Word file into Acrobat and it will convert it to a pdf for you. Another possible way for you to create the pdf file would be to utilize Acrobat.com. On Acrobat.com you can create a free user account and upload your Word document and the website will generate a pdf for you to download.

Thanks,
