Adobe Acrobat/PDF file takes forever to print

Question
Hi,

I wonder if everyone has this problem.  We often download bids to fill out.  Sometimes they are 50-100 pages.  But when we go to print them out on our network printer, it seems like Adobe Reader spends several minutes on each page.  In the meantime that holds up the printer from anyone else using it.

Of course I do understand that Adobe is dealing with a picture, so it takes time to compile, but I just wondered if there was any way for it to do it "offline" and then when ready send it to the printer.  Is anything like that possible?

Answer
Hi Art,

If you are using a Windows PC, you may try right-clicking on the printer in the printers list and choosing properties, then look for a tab labeled Advanced. Under the Advanced tab you should find some options relating to spooling.

Something like this...

Spool print documents so program finishes printing faster

Start printing after last page is spooled

Start printing immediately

Print directly to the printer

Select Spool print documents so program finishes printing faster and Start printing after last page is spooled.

That should help in that the computer used to send the document will wait until the entire document is spooled before sending it to the printer.

It should also speed it up a bit since Reader will not be communicating directly with the printer over the network itself.

Thanks,
