Question
I have set up a PDF form using Acrobat Professional V8 and have created a Submit button that should email the completed PDF form to an email address.  It appears to work when viewed in Acrobat Professional.  No security parameters were set for the document.

When I open the form in Acrobat Reader V8, I can fill in the form but the Submit button produces an error message - This operation is not permitted.

I'm unable to see why this happens and hope someone can offer some help please.

Answer
Hi Pete,

Reader can only submit the form data as an FDF file in this way.

For the submit to work properly you will need to enable Reader usage rights.

To do this, choose Advanced -> Enable Usage Rights In Adobe Reader… , in Acrobat Professional 8. (or 9).

Then use the new Distribute form command to send your document. Select Forms -> Distribute Forms. The wizard will walk you through the process. This will also enable usage rights for Reader users and it will enable them to fill out the form and send it back.

Thanks,

Ken Black
