Question
How can I replace text within a PDF file?

Answer
Hi Stuart,

First you must be using Acrobat Professional, not Reader.

The font for the type you wish to edit must be loaded on your system, either by being in the system's font folder or loaded by a font management program. To see what fonts are used in your document, choose Properties from the File menu and click the Fonts tab. This will display a list of the fonts within the document. Keep in mind that not all pdf files will have active fonts, some documents may be one large or several images put together.

With the necessary fonts loaded, choose Advanced Editing from the Tools menu and select the Touch-Up Text tool.

For more in-depth editing you may want to also add Pitstop to Acrobat. Pitstop is a plug-in that gives you a lot more editing control than the standard set of tools. Of course, depending on your needs, this could be overkill.

Thanks,
