Question

Adobe Output
Please see attached.  Can you please point me in the right direction on something like this?  I went to print this document into a PDF and the attached image is what I received.  Instead of letters I got little squares in thier place.  I'm wondering if this is a Adobe setting or my printer.  We are so confused.

Answer
Hi Mark,

It looks like the font that has been used is not translating properly or has become corrupt. This is happening from the application that was used to create the original document and the resulting pdf.

Since I don't know what application you use to create the document, I can only offer a generalization, but, it should get you going in the right direction to solve the issue.

Look at the print settings from within the original application. Somewhere in the print set up dialogs you should find something to the effect of "Include fonts...." , "Send fonts..." or "Embed fonts..." etc.
Any of these could also have a "Do not send fonts..." checked to on, you would want this to be off.

Certain fonts, such as Lucida Sans Unicode or Times New Roman, or any of the typical system fonts, are licensed by Microsoft and are not technically "allowed" to be output to pdf. Try changing to a non-system font if this is the case.

Thanks,
