About Justin VanAlstyne
Expertise
I have a full working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat 5.0 - 7.01. I have experience in creating interactive PDFs, embedding multimedia, web-based forms, creating presentations using PDF, advanced prepress preparation, PDF web optimization, color management, and using PDF as a soft-proofing tool. I do not have a lot of experience using Acrobat`s advanced Javascripting features, though a lot of custom functionality can be built into a PDF this way.

Subject: Adobe Acrobat - Hidden Lines

Question
I have downloaded a pdf form to customize that has a line that is only visible when printed.  I am using 6.0 Professional and I need to find out how to remove it from this editable pdf...  You help will be greatly apprecited by my boss, my co-worker and me!!!

The line apears to be connecting two items that are visible when viewing...

Answer
Chris,

I am trying to think about what could cause this mystery line, and I just can't think of anything that would cause that without being able to analyze the PDF itself. The only thing I can think of is that the printing line is within a form object that allows for different visible properties when printing. For example, with a text box, you can have Acrobat print writing line inside the box when it is printed, but viewed on screen you don't see the lines.

If this doesn't help out at all, perhaps you can send me the PDF this morning and I can take a look. Send anything to <junk2@jmvdigital.com>.

Thanks,
-Justin
