Question
I have someone who is trying to create a catalogue within adobe acrobat but they are getting error message "C:\Program files\adobe\acrobat5.0\catalogue.log;file system error\1. error in opening log file"

I know almost nothing about Adobe Acrobat as I rarely use it. The operating system is Windows 2000.

Answer
Hi there --

Acrobat uses the log file to index errors that happened while you're using Acrobat.  If you're unable to open and view the log file, or if there's a system error, it could mean the need for a reinstall.  Sounds like there's something improperly installed.

My advice would be to uninstall and reinstall Acrobat and see if that helps.

Carol
