Question
I receive files written on a CD-R that are saved from a windows (unknown version) operating system into a PDF format.

When I use Acrobat 4.0 to export into an EPS and place in a Quark document for printing - there is a light shadow (gray screen) behind all the text. It matters not if it is clor or black/white.

No matter what I do, I cannot remove the screen or keep it from showing up. The user that provides me with the original is without a clue on what to do also.

Is there anything I can do to elimininate the screen?

Answer
Hi there --

Unfortunately, PDF and Quark do not play nice-nice with each other, and EPS files that started out in life as PDF files don't seem to work well in a Quark document.

My advice would be to get the original graphic file and start over.....or....try to export to EPS, save as something else, and then try to bring it into Quark.  A TIF, perhaps?  Just to test it to see what other issues might be going on.  Doesn't sound like you have a corrupt file, though -- just the usual PDF/Quark nonsense.

Let me know if another file format works.

Carol
