Question I recently made pdf's from files for a client. I am using acrobat 8, which I just purchased, my client uses acrobat 7. Every time it is opened with version 7, a large window pops up letting my client know that they need to optimize and upgrade to version 8. The file still opens, but the pop up needs to be removed. Does anyone know how to make the pop up go away when the document is viewed in Adobe 7?
Answer As with all applications, new versions offer new features. When you make a PDF using Acrobat 8, a new feature might be present, and (of course) Acrobat 7 may not be able to 'handle' a new object - the obvious way to solve this is to have your customer upgrade to 8 (like DOH!) - or, perhaps - set up Distiller to use the PDF/X-1a files Distiller settings (which is based on a lower, earlier version of the PDF Specification - that will create PDF files that are compatible with earlier versions of Adobe Acrobat.
