Subject: Apply Master pages automatically

Question
Wayne.  First of all, Thanks for your service.  When version 7.0 came out, the "apply master pages automatically" was a new feature.  I have never been able to get it to work.  We are set up with three page templates, left, right and landscape.  The landscape pages are only used for sample reports which use our set up "body report" paragraph tag.  I have followed the manual instructions carefully but something must be missing.  I have completed the "unstrucMasterPageMaps" table as follows:  "Body Report" (under paragraph name tag), "Landscape" (under right-handed...), "Landscape" (under left-handed...), and "Single" (under Range ind.) When I try to re-apply the master pages, I get the error, "No Master Pages applied because the MasterPageMaps Table contains no mapping information."  Can you help?

Answer
Lee - Do you have a paragraph style named Body Report?
Accomplish the following first.
1. Go to Format - Page Layout - Pagination - then in the box make sure "Double-Sided" is selected if you are using Left and Right Master Pages.
2. You cannot manually create the "unstrucMasterPageMaps" table - Frame has to create this. This is explained in the search that is accomplished in Situation 2.

Then try the following:
Situation 1
1. Under paragraph styles you need to set the your "Body Report" style to "Start at Top of Page" this setting is found in FORMAT-PARAGRAPH-DESIGNER then select the pagination tab. Save the style
2. Then do the following - Choose Format > Page Layout > Apply Master Pages, and then click Yes to override manually applied master pages.
-----------------------------
Situation 2
Try just a simple file to set this up using the following instructions.
Use the Frame (located on the Menu Bar - ONLINE - HELP)file - I was able to set-up something like your scenerio very quickly.
1. Select Search- then enter master pages - then select Assigning master pages to body pages containing paragraph tags.
2. Make sure your paragraph has the "Start at Top Of Page" pagination selected.
In the instructions - there is a note that says the paragraph style name and Master Page name are "case sensitive."

----------------------
Situation 3
If the above doesn't work send me 2 frame files as follows:
1 file to show me how you want your document to work.
Make it a minimum of 3-4 pages with a statement something like "Auto-Left, "Auto-Right," and then "Body Report"
2. Send me a document with the Master Pages you want and I will take a look at it.
email me at the following
