Question I have a book that was created using Framemaker 3.0 and am looking for someone or someway of converting it to a .pdf file. I've tried CreatePDF.Adobe.com but they can't read my files. I'm not even sure whether they are .fm or .mif files because someone changed the extensions before saving them to the 3.5 floppies I have. I have looked into the files and see that they have a label at the top that reads <MakerFile 3.0F>. Could you tell me what kind of file I've really got and hopefully a way of converting it? I'd even buy an old version of Framemaker 3.0 if I could find one.
Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I think Frame 3.0 was only available for a Unix or a Mac.
I am pretty sure the pc version didn't come out until Ver 4.0. You didn't say whether you had Framemaker or not.
If you don't - go to www.adobe.com and download Frame 8 trial version.
If you do then any version from 3 upto the current version should Open the Version 3.0 files.
A Frame mif file is just a text readable version of the Frame document. If the document is saved as a mif - then just right click the document and select OPEN WITH - WORD.
If the file opens without alot of page breaks and the "text" is pretty much readable - then it is a mif file, and any Frame program should be able to read it.
Then using the Word - Find - enter the following "String" do not use the quotes. Then click next until you find a text string that "looks" readable.
I think your files might be Adobe Pagemaker files.
I think Adobe has a free trial download of that program also.

Send me one of your files if you want and I will see what I can do with it.
