AboutNeal Ziring Expertise I`ve been using Frame to write and edit technical documents since 1990. Experienced with versions 4, 5, and 5.5 on both Unix and Windows.
Question We have converted from FrameMaker 7 to 8. Now all the cross references are incorrect. What we can see is that all the text has successfully been converted into Unicode except the references. We now have two different formats in the same files. We have tried to go back, but still have the same problem. Do you have any solutions?
Answer Birgitta,
I am not well-qualified to answer this question, as I have
not used Framemaker 8 yet. I'll try to give you some ideas,
but you might have to contact Adobe customer support. I'd
suggest filing a bug report, here: http://www.adobe.com/support/framemaker/
Anyway, in the meantime, the first thing I would try is
saving the file as MIF (actually, MIF-8) and then loading
it again. It probably won't work, but it is easy to try
and harms nothing.
Next, try examining the character format of the references.
Change the font in that character format, and apply the change.
That might force Framemaker to change the references to Unicode.
Last, try creating a new Unicode document, and copying a
reference into it, then back into the original document.
