Subject: Frame maker Table of Contents

Question
How do I create definition in the table of contents?  I need all the heading1 to be bold and I need all of the heading2 to be indented and in a bit smaller font.  What is the easiest way to do this?

Answer
Alex,

Sorry this answer has taken me so long to get to.  I was swamped
with question on my Java allexperts.com topic.

Anyway, when you create a Table of Contents in Framemaker, it
automatically creates paragraph formats for each kind of heading
in the TOC.  You can edit the fonts and margins and such for
these formats in the Paragraph Designer.  For example, for a
heading called "ChapterHeading", the correspond paragraph format
for the TOC would be called "ChapterHeadingTOC".   This will
allow you to fix the fonts and indenting for your TOC entries.
Don't forget to apply any changes you make to all the paragraphs
of that type, using the 'Update All' button.

Now, if you need to change the content and layout of the TOC
entries, it is a little more complicated.  The content and layout
for the TOC entries is defined by a Reference page that the TOC
document will have.  You need to go to the reference page and
edit the reference paragraphs, and then re-generate the table
of contents.

Here are some web pages that give some better examples:

Good luck...
