Question
I have created a large manual that covers arrange of products.  I am now tasked with dividing the master manual into the smaller manuals exclusive to individual products.  To save time I wish to 'save copy as' of the master framemaker files and place them in individual folders to represent the individual products.  However the images for the master file appear as grey boxes in the new individual manuals.  How can I/Is it possible to edit where the framemaker file references the location of the images and where the new file is located, without importing/copying every image back into the file each time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What you can do is when you open the file and Framemaker cannot find the file it will give you 3 options:
Update Document To Use New Path
   Skip This File
   Ignore All Missing Files
If you chose "Update Document to Use New Path" then find your file. This way you do not have to import any files.

This is one reason I seldom - if ever - use the IMPORT BY REFERENCE function of Framemaker.

Just check the "button" you want to use and proceed. The 3 above questions will be asked for each file it cannot find.

But what I would do if I were you, is keep all of your files as they are and just make a "NEW" book for each of your products and include those files in the applicable Framemaker Book. Now you don't have a bunch of duplicate files that you have to update, (i.e. your Master and then the individual product file.
