Question
I have FM 9.

Suppose the word Salt occurs throughout a 100 page book.

How do I create an index so that it references all the pages that Salt occurs in?

For example, I want:

Salt 2, 10, 25, etc.

Answer
Dan
I am using Frame 7 - but the following should work for you:
Go to the Frame Menu Bar - Select SPECIAL - MARKER - then INDEX in the pop-up box.
If you select the text or word you want to index - it will automatically appear in pop-up box.
You do not need to keep those words or selection - you can add to them.
When you index the word "SALT" your index marker has to be spelled exactly the same way in each occurrence. In other words "SALT" is a different entry than "Salt.
There is lots of information on creating an index if you go to Help on the Frame Menu Bar or if you use the manual. The above should give you a start - if you need more help you can e-mail me at the following:

Be sure to put Framemaker in the subject area and if you send me any files - be sure they are saved as a mif or as a Frame 7 file.
