Subject: Framemaker memory

Question
I am getting a memory error upon opening a Framemaker book probably due to adding a large amount of graphics per copying not referencing.

I have tons of RAM. Isn't there a way to give more RAM to Framemaker upon opening it? Or is there a way to modify the areas of RAM given to Non-Programs vs Programs?

Answer
Sue - This is not my area of expertise, but you might try the following: Make a duplicate book of the one that is giving you the problem.
If you have a bunch of Book generated files, (i.e. TOC, Index, etc.) I would remove those first from you duplicate book and then try opening the book.
If your book opens OK then I would just re-generate those files or add them back in 1 at time - to find the problem file.
If the problem is not solved then I would do the following:

Remove all but the first 5 files from the book and then try opening the book, if it opens OK - then add another 5 files, and so on until you find the file that is giving you the problem.
If it is a "Very Large" file then you might have to split it into 2 or more parts or just make a new file and copy in parts of it a small amount at a time.

Try saving the book as a MIF file and then try opening it.

If your problem is still not solved you might try the following Web site in Adobe:
