Question
Hi

I am currently learning to create aircraft colour profile drawings in CS. I want to be able to add a highlight to areas of the fuselage etc to give an imprssion of 'shape' on a flat artwork. I have tried gradients but this doesnt work. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks

Answer
Hi Andy...

This is a perfect example of artwork you should be using gradient mesh techniques on.

Now, I am really no expert in gradient mesh - it's like a whole 'nother level of Illustrator.

But there are some wonderful tutorials out there that will be sure to help you - I've done them and they helped me get the basics down. http://lifeinvector.com/?page_id=181
That's a great one - look for the red pepper tutorial on that page.

Hope you pick it up quickly, as it can really bring your artwork to life!

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

Experience

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
