Question
I am experiencing a problem with several adobe CS3 illustrator tools that wont
constrain (while holding the shift key) or tool that dont display while they are in
use. I have rebooted my computer (2.16 GHz Core 2 Duo Imac) and for a short
while they seem to function properly and then they stop working again. Do you
have any suggestions of what I could do to rectify these troubles.

Are you running Leopard on your mac? If so, there is a known bug with the constraints but I have not heard about the disappearing tool before. Adobe and Apple are coming out with bug-fix patches and updates later this month, so keep checking for updates. Also try resetting your app preferences. Hold down shift+ctrl+opt+apple when starting up the program. Reset everything and see if that helps for now.
