Hi, I am having trouble opening designs with certain fonts on another computer. One computer has an Illustrator CS version with limited fonts and so when I try to open designs with a font not listed in the Illustrator CS version installed on this computer it replaces the font with another style and so changing the whole look of the design. How can I import fonts to Illustrator on this computer so that this will not happen?

Hi Donna,

The font issue has nothing to do with illustrator at all. The font is not loaded on the other computer. You need to install the fonts from the first computer onto the second computer.

If it is a mac, its just a matter of dragging them into your font management software (or into your system "fonts" folder).

If you are using  a PC, you will have to Click Start, and then click Run. Then type %windir%\fonts, and then click OK. On the File menu, click Install New Font.

Either way after you install your fonts, restart your computer, then launch illustrator. The fonts should then be available as long as they are activated. If they are not showing up in illustrator cs, you may have an incompatible font. In that case, I would change the fonts to outlines from the original computer.
