Hi again, Kevin.
AI 10 still won't uninstall despite my taking all the steps you advised.  I tried to "modify" my installation.  I checked off all the boxes and it started to reinstall to 30%.  Then an error box came up that read:  "Component Transfer Error"
Component:  WindowsSys Files
File Group:  msvcrt
File:  <svMSVCRT>\
Error:  The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
Where is this file and what can I do about it?

Unfortunately, this sounds like a windows error. Once you have gone through the steps I outlined, this should reload completely using the standard install. Im not sure where to locate this error file or directory since this is a windows system file. You could do a search for any files or folders with Adobe in them and completely wipe everything off your hard drive. It could be that there is a shared resource file from another adobe product conflicting. That is the only thing I can think of.
