Question
I need to separate text out of an image. The image consists of car engine on a checker board background. The checker board background has text on it and I need to remove the text from the image and replace it with the background. This is something I have not had to do. I am going crazy. Thanks

Answer
Hi Brent,

First, let me make sure that this is an Illustrator file that you can grab separate pieces with, and not a photograph that you have opened in Illustrator. If it is, that is a whole different ball of wax.

If this is an illustrator file, use the direct select tool (white arrow) to select the individual pieces you wish to remove and then hit delete.

Thanks
