Question
QUESTION:
Hi,

I'm making edits to an Illustrator file that will be published in a magazine. A co-worker, who left on vacation, asked me to send the Illustrator file as an .eps document and also to include the font files (.otf). She had already put the font files together, but since then we've added additional files to the document.

How does one create the .otf files from the Illustrator document?

Thanks!
JEssica

ANSWER: Hi Jessica,

Unless you have the open type fonts already, you cannot create or extract the fonts from AI. You will have to located these files in your font folder and copy them manually.

QUESTION:
Thanks -- where is my font folder? Is that something that is part of the Adobe CS3 suite? I assume that if I'm using the fonts I should have access to them somewhere.

ANSWER: Hi Jessica,

Are you on a mac or a pc?

QUESTION: PC, thanks.

Answer
Hi Jessica,

On most Windows systems, you can view your loaded and usable fonts in the Windows Control Panel. Click on the Start button, then on Control Panel. Somewhere in there will be a folder with your fonts. Before copying your fonts, create a folder on your desktop into which you can copy the fonts. Then, locate the fonts you need within that Control Panel fonts folder. Select each font you want to copy.

Thanks

Kevin
