Hi.
I use Illustrator CS2. I design a file. I save it. Close it. Go back to the file, open it, I get a message about fonts missing from the file. So if I open it, the fonts have changed to default. The fonts are inside the font book. I reinstall them, and then document is fine. But problem repeats itself. Thank you for your help.

Hi Maribel,
This is more of a question about font management but I will give you an easy quick solution that I always use when I have an issue with fonts behaving abnormally.
Adobe applications have their own fonts folder where you can put fonts and make them available for all these application. The font folder is at:
Your hard drive/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Fonts
Drag the fonts that are causing the problem into this folder and you want have this issue again. In most cases the fonts will show up in Illustrator without having to close and reopen the program. If not, then just restart Illustrator.

The above mentioned technique always worked for me and I'm sure it'll fix your Illustrator font issue.
