Adobe Illustrator/importing PS clipping paths

Question
When I try to import a tiff from PS with a clipping path (the clipping path option
in PS has been checked) the background still comes through. If I save the file
as an eps the c.p. comes through fine. All the 'Help' info I have read says that
PS tiffs with clipping paths should work. They work o.k. in my InDesign files.
What am I doing wrong?

Answer
Hi Gena,

Hi Gena, when it comes to importing into AI, nothing in the help menu states to use a tiff file to import to AI. They say to use  Photoshop file. Tiff is not a recommended format for going between AI and PS, even though it says that Tiff does support clipping paths.

I would actually keep them as a straight PSD file, however if eps works then I would use that format. The final file format will be determined by AI anyway.
