Adobe Illustrator/resize objects

Question
Hello,
I have been working all on illustrator CS2 (windows). Every so often I saved my file under a new name. Now, suddenly, I always get error messages when I want to save another copy and if I click on the various objects (with the filled arrow) in my file, I do not get the empty squares at the corners any more and can no resize them any more. The only thing I can do is move the whole object around. The arrow head is also different: it is only a head without a tail.
Did I accidently activate something that made this happen?
I tried to open old files (from a few month back) and have the same problem there. Please, help me!
Cheers,
Martina

Answer
Hi Martina,

You have turned off your bounding box (cmd+H) that will solve the arrow problem.

I need to know what the error messages say when you try to save in order to help you.

Thanks

Kevin

You didn't have to close out the question. Reading your follow up, I am assuming you are saving your files as a pdf instead of an Illustrator file.

The issue you are having with the error is your document is set to 72 and your fonts will become rasterized. Go to Effects>Document Raster Effects Settings and change this to 300 dpi. The error also occurs when you have copyrighted fonts installed and use them in your documents. It will not embed them in the PDF since you cannot distribute them legally without permission. Change your fonts to standard fonts and see if the error occurs.

That should solve your incompatibility issue.

Thanks

Kevin
