Adobe Illustrator/Directional Feather in Illustrator CS3

Question
I'm trying to apply a directional feather to an object in Illustrator.  There is no directional feather tool to my knowledge, so instead I tried applying a gradient, but can't get the end color to be [no color].  Basically, I want it to start out one color and then fade into transparent.  Help!  This has GOT to be an option somewhere within Illustrator.  Any ideas?  Please let me know.  Thanks!

Answer
Hi Kay,

This feature is not available in Illustrator CS3. CS4 does have direction feathering and gradient opacity changes. Unfortunately its not in CS3.

What you can attempt to do is change the transparency mode to Multiply or darken so that the end color (make sure its white) will fade out.

Thanks

Kevin
