Question
Hello!
Admittedly I let my two girls play on my ibook, and suddenly my Illustrator
CS2 will not let me manipulate any imagery that I try to copy and paste into
another document. I see that the layer is not locked, I tried unlocking all, I
have restarted computer. It feels like they pressed a function key that has
locked movability. Oh, dear smart Illustrator folk out there, help a lass who
needs Illustrator like a dog needs a bone. Thank you kindly, each and
everyone of you, including most importantly Kevin.

Answer
Hi Cyrille,

To specify copying preferences, choose Edit > Preferences > File Handling & Clipboard (Windows) or Illustrator > Preferences > File Handling & Clipboard (Mac OS). Select BOTH.

Then try it. That should be the issue.

If that does not work, reset your Illustrator by holding down (pc) ctrl+alt+shift+cmd (mac) ctrl+opt+shift+apple when you click the icon to start up.

This should resolve any changes that they may have made. This is normally the option to allow AI to keep items in the clipboard for other applications.

Thanks

Kevin
