Adobe Illustrator/Character font window gone

Question
Other windows (like the color window) show up, but the Character/font window will not show up. I can use the Type menu. I have reinstalled to no avail. Can you help me. It is CS3.

Hi Curt,
Have you tried going to window>workspace and selecting a new workspace (i believe there is an actual type workspace). This will reset your panels and your character/paragraph panel will show up.
