Adobe Illustrator/Problems when printing in AI CS3

Question
I work with AI and AP using for print my works on a Stylus C92. Im usin Windows Xp SP2. Not so long ago tried a Stylus C65 in other USB port, installed the printer drivers and then started to have some problems when printing with my old C92.

When I send some file to print on it, it freezes and have to wait several minutes to change every option on the print menu until printing. The problem doesnt show when saving files. Maybe the application now hangs sometimes but the problem seems to be on the printer spooler.

Checked if I have some virus or someting. Tried to reinstall the printers drivers and nothing. Now Im thinking to reinstall AI.

I will be glad if you can give me some orientation.
Thanks,
Martin.

Answer
Hi Martin,

There is no need to reinstall anything.

This has to do with your printers, not Illustrator. The issue is your printers are too old and cannot handle the file sizes or complexity of Illustrator file formats and they do not have a large enough memory buffer to make up for the lag in processing. So what you end up with is a slow print that stalls while your printers try their hardest to process the images or files you are sending to it.

You will probably have to invest in newer equipment.

Thanks

Kevin
